Jame Cagney, Pat O'Brien. Frank McHugh, Allen Jenkins and Olivia de Haviland in "The Irish

in Us" is followed by Dick Powell, Joan Blondell, Adolphe Menjou and the Mills Brothers in **Broad- way Gondolier." A musical with an interesting story, lots of laughs, an exceptionally fine cast and tune- ful numbers. Should be seen at least twice.

If you are wise you will wend your way "Orientalwards" on May 6 to see. just once more. **Top inimitable Hat" featuring the

and team Rogers

Astaire. It needs no boosting, but is a show to be seen again to thoroughly enjoy! ita innumerable delights. The Rogers-Astaire duo are still un- beatable in their way. Then come Wheeler and Woolsey in **The Rainmakers," which is a typical piece of fooling in the usual rather nonsensical story. A runaway train sequence provides the amus- ing thrill. Dorothy Lee is chief! among the support. All due at the Oriental.

Star

George Arliss in "The Last Gentleman." the whimsical, tenderi type of part in which he excels. Unusual ending to an interesting story perfectly acted by all.

Followed by Joe E. Brown. Olivia de Haviland, Roscoe Karns and Ruth Donnelly in "Alibi Ike." A baseball background rather handicaps this picture anywhere i except in the United States and Japan. Not very new material. but if you like Joe E. Brown you will be sure to see this.

The picture which follows. "Accent on Youth," is only for one day. Sylvia Sydney and Her-) bert Marshall in a flimsy comedy.

Gary Cooper and Anne Harding] in "Peter Tobetson" are next on the programme. This du Maurier romance is perfectly acted, but as sadness predominates beginning and ending in dire tragedy, it hardly holds universal appeal. Worth seeing once, because of the exquisite character-studies by the two stars.

Majestic

"Baboona" is a smoothly-con- trived jungle film refreshingly free. from fangs and fights. Aeroplane shots reveal new aspects of the jungle. with the famous Mr. and Mrs. Martin' Johnson in their two planes. There are no animal fights! and therefore nothing dis- tress tender-hearted animal-lovers, Worth seeing, as it shows the jungle in its true perspective.
