At his studio Kenneth Shoesmith, the artist, is putting the finishing touches on the "Madonna of the Atlantic" on the reredon (the scene behind the Altar) for the chapel of the ss. Queen Mary, the largest ship in the world. The canvas-7 x 15 feet—is covered with gold leaf by a little-known mossie process which is supposed to last forever. The painting is done on pure gold leaf. pass forms the back-ground for the Madonna and Child.
