"A Little Bit Careless In Money Matters
Miss Marguerite O'Neill (Peggy O'Neill, the actress), af Sloane-square, S.W., at her public examination before Mr. Registrar Mellor, in the London Bankruptcy Court last month, admitted that she was "a little bit careless about money mat- ters."
In her statement of affairs Miss O'Neill claimed to possess: a surplus in assets of 948 5d after payment of all her liabili ties, which were estimated at £2,421 These ranked to the extent of £1,067.
She said that during the past] three or four years, owing to ill- health, she had done very little stage work. She had command- ed a high salary for her engage- ments. In 1929 she lost £3,000 worth of her jewellery, which was stolen by burglars, and in the following year she lost £3,000 invested in America. Her assets included a play valued at £300.

I WAS ASTONISHED BY MOROCCO
(Continued from Page 6.)
They maintain an army of over 50,000 men in Morocco; they offer its inhabitants logical, understand- ing, modern solutions of their pro- blems. They govern to a large extent through the Arab chiefs, but in the ultimate issue their will is not to be questioned.
The rate at which the develop-| ment has proceeded is astounding to anyone accustomed to the easy. hesitant half-measures and com. promises and financial narrowness of British Colonial administration.
Splendid roads, upon which great | numbers of Moroccans find picyment, trellis the country from end to end. Far into the moun- tains wind these roads, enabling the motor-car to penetrate in a day where a few years ago a caravan) would have required a fortnight
Travellers Catered For Everywhere excellent accommo- dation is provided for the travel- ler. The hotels at Rabat, Casab lanca, Sad, Agadir, Meknes, and Marrakech, not to mention many other places, are of the highest: order.
best They outclass the hotels in Cairo, or in other places in Egypt. Thought, organisation, and will-power have been lavish- ed upon. creating first-class tourist structure.
ง
A new Riviera, which will soon be a formidable competitor to the Cote d'Azur. offers itself to all in search of winter sunshine. If the world is destined to escape another; hideous catastrophe, and the heal- ing process can continue, one can- not doubt that Morocco has magni- Scent prospects.
I must confess myself captivated! by Marrakech. Here in these spacious palm groves rising from. the desert the traveller can be sure} of perennial sunshine, of
every comfort and diversion, and Can contemplate with ceaseless satis- faction the stately snow-clad pano- rama of the Atlas Mountains. The sun is brilliant and warm but not scorching; the air crisp, bracing but without being chilly; the days bright, the nights cool and fresh.
A Pageant
The Arab inhabitants are a per- petual attraction with their flow- ing, many-coloured robes. Every peasant is a picture, every crowd | a pageant.
If winter sunshine is the quest,
here is if achievement
Thus far all smiles. Is there a darker underside? The Moors
are a proud and ancient race--till only yesterday a race querors.

Are they tamed?, Arë they reconciled to this new civil- isation with its order, its efficiency, its many benefits, its proofs of ac-! tive progress and its rense effort? Or are they dreaming of the days of Moorish greatness 2.
The faith, of Islam holds them all in a discipline of its own. From the balcony of an up-to-date botel one hears all night long the chants and drum beats of the mosques, an endless repetition of choruses!
