COSSACK'S BEAUTY REVELS IN MUD

ROYAL HIGHNESS WINS JOCKEY CUP

DONOVAN CAUSES SURPRISE · ·

The failure of Night Star and Harvest View, two hot favourites, to place provided the main features of the five races before tiffin at the Val- ley to-day. Despite very heavy rain and a track that was almost under water, there was only one substantial dividend $50.70 by Royal Highness (Mr. Cheape) for his meritorious win in the Jockey Cup.

Mr.

There was a very fair attendance before tif- fin and the racing was always interesting: Frost had two wins and a third in four starts, while Mr. Wong, who brought Cossack's Beauty home for an easy win in the Ladies' Purse, had a .win and a third in three starts.

ILLEGAL

ALTERATION OF FIXTURES » CONDEMNED

London, To-day.

A number of northern clubs threaten to seek an injunction to

restrain the Football League from delaying the publication of fix- tures. They contend that the League's action is illegal as the rules say that the fixtures must be arranged at or prior to the annual fixture meeting and alteration is forly allowed at the annual or a special meeting. Also any alter lation must be circularised to the clubs at least a week before the meeting.
