STRANDED GREEKS AT PADDINGTON

Woman Officer Aids Sailors

The woman vigilance officer at Paddington station, who looks after girls and women, went to the assistance, of three Greek isailors who were stranded recent- ly. They had arrived, penniless! from Newport, Mon

The officer took them to the Paddington stationmaster's office and suggested ringing up the Greek church at Bayswater. The minister there sent a taxicab for the sailors and put them up for the night.

Some difficulty was experienced in getting the sailors to use the telephone and speak in their own language:
