FORMIDABLE PAIRINGS IN COLONY TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS

CHINA FLEET BOXING

TOURNAMENT

PROGRAMME CURTAILED THIS YEAR

BUT SOME GOOD FIGHTS SEEN DUE

UE to the fact that there are not as many ships in port as in previous years, the China Fleet. Boxing Championships, which were held recently at the China Fleet Club, were somewhat curtailed and most of the fights seen were either in the "Boy" or "Novices" class.

On the night of the finals, however, a special programme was arranged when some of the Colony's leading lights in the Noble Art were seen in action, notable among them being A. B. Prandy. holder of the Colony lightweight belt.

A. B. Wingrave, HMS Medway and A. B. Fancy, HMS. Medway, who have both taken prominent parts in tournaments sponsored by the Hong Kong Boxing Association in the past provided the spectators with a good fight in a special welter- weight contest, the latter just securing the verdict.

W. C. CHOYS CHALLENGE FOR SINGLES TITLE?

(By "Referee")

ALTHOUGH the Colony Open Lawn Tennis

Championships are over a month away, pre- parations are now being made by many intend- ing participants, and already doubles partner- ships are being formed in all Clubs in the Colony.

The Rumjahn cousins, "H. D. and S. A," holders, will again be defending their Open Doubles title, but the splendid partner- ship between Ho Kalau and W. C. Hung, of the CRC, last year's runners-up, has unavoidably been split up as the former is shortly leaving the Colony for the North

Hung will partner E. C. Fincher, who last year reached the semi-final round with Captain Errol Manners, EN, only to scratch because the latter left the Colony in his ship for the North. Hung and Fincher will probably provide the biggest obstacle to the champions retaining their title.

Lee Wai-tong, who, last sea- son partnered Paul Kong, the former Chinese Davis Cup player, will probably pair up with Luk Ding-cheong, with
