The rioting by students asum led a really grave aspect here in course of yesterday, when finally troops with steel helmets had to be called out in order to quell the disturbances In various parts of the city the students erected: harricades, which the troops hed to break down with heavy lorries. For the first time the police are making use of a machine which splays 37 inklike liquid. the stains of which are extremely dif ficult to remove and change colour daily. The object is to help iden- tify rioters later when arrested.

The students shot with volvers at the police working the machine, and Major Holm, whe was the object of their special dis- like, was seriously wounded. Near Alszhar the rioting was most serious.
