THREE INJURED MEN IN
COLONY TEAM
BAD LUCK ON EVANS
(By "Rover")
WITH the soccer Interport against Shanghai
barely 10 days away, the Selectors incurred a grave risk by including Leung Wing-chiu, Lee Kwok-wai and Lee Wai-tong, all of South China, in the Colony team, as all three are by no means at their fittest. Lee Wai-tong is still nursing a torn muscle, in spite of the fact that he turned out for South. China "A" last Saturday against Kowloon.
Although the team selected is a strong one, there is a possi- bility that Lee Wai-tong's injury may not have improved suffi- ciently in time for the big match-he is running a big risk with regard to the Berlin Games-in which case it is more than likely that Hill, the Club forward, will ill the inside-right berth and Leonard, of St. Joseph, will lead the Colony attack, as on Sunday last.
Lee Kwok-wai, although he played last Sunday, has not fully recovered from an injury sustained almost a month and a half ago, and on Sunday last took things very easily in the left-half position His selection, although not unexpected, came as a surprise to many followers of the game in view of the fact that there was a grave risk of him not being quite fit for the Interport. Evans, of the Fusiliers, who plays at left-half, is undoubtedly the best man in the Colony for this berth, and the mere fact that he was not given a trial last Sunday was no reason why he should not have been included as a reserve half-back.

FIRST DIVISION
I now wonder how on earth I have watched one scrappy game after another on the same ground without becoming thoroughly bored with life. Yesterday almost every manoeuvre in the game was exploited by a side which had both speed, with a capital S, and stamina. The for- wards, as well as the backs, knew how to take and pass the ball and the value of the cross-kick was fully realised.
S
The display given by G. R. Bash, the visitors' full-back, will go down in the annals of local Rugby as the best to date. His positioning was perfect, while his touch-kicking was always well judged He is undoubtedly an authority on place-kicking and his attempted dropped goal was good enough for the screen. There was little opportunity to judge his defence, but in attack be showed both speed and initiative the manner in which he came up into the threequarter-line in the second half was a pleasure to watch, only a forward pass robbing the New Zea landers of a try as the result of perfect back play.
The heroes in the Colony team were undoubtedly the for- wards, who held a pack averaging 12 stone 5 pounds throughout the match, even during the periods that Sowman replaced the
injured Robertson. The visitors, however, had a first- class- hooker in Burke and, packing 3-4-1. the ball was heeled in quick {time. ** Whenever Chambers secured possession, however, slow heeling resulted in Bonnar being swamped by Chesterman and Chapman before he could move. In the line-outs the Colony for- wards were beaten repeatedly, though they effectively smothered the visiting forward who gained possession. Walkden, however, was an exception, but he suffered the same fate as the tourists.
