The Fire Brigade Recreation Club were again beaten last night. this time at Eliot Hostel, while the Kowloon Tong Club could not hold their own against Recreio "A", who won all nine sets in their encounter at King's Park.
Owing to the Taikoo Recrea- tion Club failing to field a team last night, their match against Eliot Hall "B" had to be post- poned.

TWO years ago local Rugby stock went up with a leap following the defeat of the Australian Universities' touring team by a Colony fif- teen. On their return journey, after a successful tour of Japan, the Australians sought their revenge, but were held to a draw of 3-3 by a very much weaker combination than that which beat them on their trip north. To-day, at 4.30 p.m. on the Club ground, Happy Valley, a re- presentative team from the New Zealand Universities will be on view against a Colony side weakened by the absence of the leading Army- players, who sailed yesterday for a series of matches in Shanghai, and there is every reason to believe that the visitors will succeed by a com- fortable margin.
Rugby of a very high grade is played in New Zealand, while the local standard has deteriorated since the disbandment of the all-conquering Navy team last season. If we had a match-winning pair of halves such as Lt. Miers and Lt. Forbes and forwards like Lt. Lin- ton, the late Lt. Nixon, Leading Cook Pascoe, Lt. Evans and Cpl. Hardy of the Borderers with us this season I should view today's encounter with every degree of confidence, but, as it is," we haven't such players and have been further handicapped by the loss of the Army repre- sentatives who this season carried off the Triangular Tournament Cup.
In G. R. Bush the tourists have one of the best all-rounders New Zealand has produced -ke represented his country in 1933, besides playing with conspicuous success in first class cricket-while J. M. Watt, a wing-threequarter, was nominated for the All Black trials, prior to their recent tour of Britain, but was, unfortunately, unavailable.

Though I am a little dubious regarding the ability of the Colony backs to hold up a fast- (moving attack, my main anxiety is the pack It is definitely on the light side when one siders that the visitors will javerage over 12 st. It is going to prove a colossal task for S. Chambers, the local hooker, and so much will depend on his suc- cess or failure to get the ball, back in the tight strummages! The visiting forwards are also well built for line-outs and, unless our men show a little more aptitude to jump for the ball the tourists are likely to make good use of this advan tage.
The Colony Selectors are tak-! ing a risk in playing J. LI Bonnar at scrum-half, as he has only just recovered from a torn ligament, but otherwise the side is as strong as it could be I am sorry to hear of Marine Light's misfortune, but

Radio Concede Five Goals After Interval
REMARKABLE CHANGE IN
GAME
After-being two goals down at half time the East Lancs. hockey team made a startling comeback to net five goals without reply to beat the Eadio by 5 gusts to 2 at Caroline Hilll yesterday afternoon. The change that came over the soldiers at the interval was abnost miraculous. After giving listless exhibitions in the opening half- esch member seemed to take a new lease of life, and they kept the Radio on the defensive practically throughout the second half.
Great credit is due to Come and Camly, the two backs, particularly. the latter, for their excellent work during the early stages of the game, despite the fact that they were handicapped by the ab- sence of their custodian, who was | prevented-at-the last minute from thening out. Had it not been for the sorts of these two in keep- ing the Radio attackers at bay the match might not have ended so favourably for the soldiers.
