THE writing is on the wall for a universal adop- tion of the new Lb.w. cricket rule That, surely, is the correct interpretation of the M.C.C.'s latest cables to Australia and New Zealand re- questing the Australian Board of Control and the New Zealand Cricket Council to permit the ex- perimental Lb.w, rule being tried in matches now about to be played in the Dominion by the tour- ing M.C.C. team. Both countries have agreed to the rule being tried out in matches with the M.C.C. team.

What clearer.indication could there be that the M.C.C. in spite of the likes and dislikes of English professionals, are tho roughly satished with last summer's innovation?

If in their view the altered rule was of no benefit to the game they would certainly not be carrying the missionary work into Australia.
