WONDERFUL DISPLAY ON WOODEN COURT
KEEN BRAWN CUP HOCKEY MATCH
C.B.S. AND D.G.S. SHARE THE SPOILS
MISS BOCKLER'S GOOD DISPLAY
(By "Sticks") ONE of the outstanding features of the Brawn
Cup hockey encounter between the Central British Schoolgirls and the Diocesan Girls' School on the C.BA ground at King's Park yesterday was the keeness displayed by both sides, and a very thrilling match ended in a draw, both sides scoring once.
Following their overwhelming win over the "Y Ladies' junior side on Saturday, the CBS. were expected to overwhelm the D.GS.. but the position was almost reversed in the second half, when the latter all but scored-a-winning goal in one of the most thrilling incidents I have seen in Ladies' hockey to date.
Undoubtedly the outstanding performers of the day were Miss H. Bockler of the D.GS., and Miss H. Martin, of the CBS, the former emulating the feats of some of our best men players. by dribbling clean through the opposing defence time and again. while the latter gave a very good performance in defence.
In the first half the honours
were about even although the
Central British girls made two THREE TRENT
belated efforts to score, one of which succeeded through sheer weight-of mumbers. "but the 'second half saw a complete | change in the play and the] Diocesan girls, who made their debut resterday in local hockey 1toumaments, swept all before them in several very good efforts which culminated in one another
excellent goal and attempt which just shaved, the i upright. both of which were! from the stick of Miss Bockler.
