OXFORD CAPTAIN'S

HARD TASK

PROBLEMS TO SOLVE BEHIND SCRUM

RESOLVE TO BUILD UP TEAM

London, October 16.

KLT. JACKSON, the new Oxford captain,

seems to have several problems to solve in building up his side for the Varsity match in two months time. There is the problem of team selection and also that of the fitness of some of his key men.

It is stated that two of last year's players, C. F. Grieve, the full-back, who was chosen as a stand-off for Scotland, and J. C. Guy, the serum-half, may not play at all, owing to the injuries they received last season.

There is also a doubt about the captain himself and his part- ner of two seasons ago, J. M. McShane, the Australian scrum-half, though they both hope to declare themselves fit.

This uncertainty, in addition to the loss of the three inter- national three-quarters, Peter Cranmer, A. L. Warr and H. D. B..

Lew Elverson,-Pennsylvania “halfback, it here seen brought. down by a white`awistered Yale Bulldog in the fiat clash between them in Philadelphis since 1889. Elverson carried the ball to Yale's two yard line on this play in the second quarter"and a touchdown followed. Yale, howevƐer, came from behind, to win 31-20.

Lorraine, makes it difficult to gange the probable strength of the HONG KONG

Oxford team. **
