Dramatic Final Scene
The final scene is dramatic.. Baer, struck with a right to the jaw, stumbles forward with glove outstretched, and then falls. He rises to one knee, bat his legs are paralysed, and there he stays to be counted out.
Louis has been compared with: Sam Langford, the wonderful negro who was contemporary with: Jack Johnson. I saw an old filmi yesterday of. Langford's fight with Bill Lang. Langford, was then more developed and experi- enced than Louis is to-day, but, physically compared, they are al most the same man.
In the ring they are machines of the same deadly type. Both took their victory and the cheers with phlegmafic calm. But Lang- ford did smile.-X. X. Z.

Ridgewood, (NI), September 30. AMERICA won the Ryder Cup from Great Bri-
tain here to-day by eight games to two, with two halved. After winning three of yesterday's four foursomes, the Americans again routed their rivals to-day, winning five of the eight singles matches. Percy Alliss, the Beaconsfield profes- sional, scored the only British victory. The two remaining matches were halved.
Allisa was continually getting into bunkers and rough against. Craig Wood, and his putting was none too steady. The result was that the American led by four holes at the turn Wood went ahead at the second, where Alliss was bunkered. The English- man hit a tree with his recovery shot, and finally picked up...
Alliss improved on the inward half, when he reduced his arrears to three holes. He won the 10th with a birdie 3, halved the 11th and 12th, won the 13th and 14th with par 4's, and was then only one hole down. He missed his chance, however, by® taking one over par at the last two holes, which the American won to be three up. Alliss was home in 37 to 38 for a total of 75 to 72.
Alliss, however, made a great recovery and reduced his ar rears from three holes to one at the 27th. He was generally outdriven, but his putting had improved considerably. He played better and better as the day wore on and squared at the
