TWO NASTY SPILLS IN JUMPING EVENT

MR. A H. POTTS DRAGGED BY HIS HORSE

LIST OF QUALIFYING RIDERS

THE eliminating rounds of the Jumping and Handy Hunter events for the Polo Club's Gymkhana to be held at the Polo Ground, Boundary Street, to-morrow, were held yesterday and, despite the thin drizzle of rain which fell continuously throughout the afternoon, the riders of both sexes gave good performances.

3.

All the jumps were over three feet in height, and proof that the general standard of horsemanship was high is shown by the fact that there were only two spills during the afternoon, but, unfortunately, both were rather nasty ones.

Mr. Cuff was the first to fall, his pony failing to clear the first jump--a bush, 3 ft. 7 ins. high. Capt. A. H. Potts met with misfortune at the same obstacle, and was thrown over the horse's neck and dragged for a short distance.
