VISITORS RECORD FOURTH WIN

(By "Skip")

THE Shanghai Interporters recorded their fourth successive bowls victory in the Colony when they defeated the Second Division – rink, skipped by J. C. Chalmers, by 23 shots to 17 on the Taikoo green yesterday afternoon..

Had it not been for the beautiful bowling of the local skip we might have lost by an even larger margin. Chalmers was in- strumental în saving Hong Kong and adding to the score on many

occasions.

The game was rather patchy. J. Munro skipped Shanghai for the first time in the Colony, but did not show up as well as he has done when playing at No. 3. The Hong Kong quartette ob tained the lead on the eighth head and held it until the fifteenth end, when they collapsed for the visitors to claim, & shots before they were able to reply.

FORM founded on relativity must always be

difficult to appraise. This is particularly true of lawn tennis played in four continents, and rarely under identical conditions.

The surface of the court and the state of the weather are factors that often govern results, while championships have sometimes been lost because of a physical handicap unappreciat- ed by the man who looks on.

The two ranking lists which follow are not likely to escape criticism: they probably contain several surprises for the aver- age student of the game. Nevertheless, they are based on per- sonal observation in Europe, America and Australia, and to have behind then no national prejudice.
