The Zoo is now arranging to receive a pair of manatees which are expected to airive from the West Indies shortly.

It is over 30 years since the Zoo last exhibited specimens of these creatures, which belong to. the family of seacows, believed to be responsible for the legends about mermaids.. They do not however, possess the beauty 128- tally credited to mermaids.
