Ideas For The Summer "Traveller

15. As soon as a holiday looms in sight we hurry towards train, car or liner. The woman whe arrives at the end of her jour- ney looking cool and unperturb- ed is she who has chosen ber outfit wisely.

A suit is always necessary when travelling it is essentially comfort- able and invariably looks tidy. When the suit is required for more the traveller "dressy" occasions discards her tailored blouse and changes into a chic dainty jumper of checked cotton seersucker or taffeta, with a gay bow tying under the chin. Or have you heard of the latest ruffle-neck blouse? With cat coloured gauging carried

silk thread, and doing up at the back of the neck, you can make one in organdie to look very demure and. very wearable. If you prefer, taf- feta, chiffon or a soft printed silk, you might draw up the ruffle neck- lise by a cord

When it turns chilly, and the traveller is still wearing her linen suit, she dons a light tailored tra- smart velling coat cat on those classical lines. She dons too, her little stitched angora hat, new and most exciting, being reversible, oat- meal colour on the one side and blue on the other.

Having arrived at her destina- tions the first thought of any wan- derer is to rush into something cool and fresh-looking. A lettuce- green crease-resisting linen might be just the thing. With a turn- dew collar and cuffs in a darker shade, edged with a band of oat- meal, and a sash tying at the side in dark green lined with a lighter shade, it would certainly be smart. For the tall, slim figure,, a softly tailored dress in brown linen would be becoming, if cut on similiar · lines to that of a coat, with revers dashingly wide and machine-stitch ed

Triangular pockets and narrow cuffs treated in the same way, and an "advanced" jockey-shaped cap in vivid green siik, also, stitched in rows, complete the outfit.

Summer dinner parties are al- ways being given on the roof-tops. The wanderer needs an “entertain- ing" evening frock which is gay without being too sophisticated. She might choose for her material black- and white spotted georgette and make a bouffant skirt pleated at the waist, and a square neck en livened by a big bow of red shot tafeta Broad shoulder bands would lend an unconventional air to the frock, besides making for comfort Many dresses of these spreading skirts are featuring a wide band of gauging jast below the waistline.

Remember, too, your coats and coatees. For day wear nothing is more becoming than a light tweed swagger coat with enormous patch pockets almost like those on a Geor- gian costume. Be careful in choos- ing the evening coatee: the most find, but graceful thing you can essentially one that will "go" with almost anything. Have it in chif- fon, taffeta, printed silk, or even organdie.

One last and very useful tip: when going on a long journey or a holiday that entails a lot of travell ing, take a caparious handbag with you and see that it has a handle which hangs on your arm.
