It's always a good time to start. Here's how:

With the hands on the bips, bend" the left leg, bringing the body down to meet it, as you see in the sketch. Now straighten up to the original position, and repeat the movement with the right leg. Do this slowly at first, quickening the pace as you become used to it.
Jumping with the feet astride and together is a good liver-shaker, and useful for slimming at the saşne time.
Stand with the hands on the hips. Jump with the heels together, and come. down again. Now jump with the legs astride and come down in sa astride position.
Repeat the movement about 20 times, alternatively feet together and astride..
Now for two exercises which are not ilustrated..
Ankies can be both strengthened and slimmed by this simonle move- ment. .Stand on something about two inches high-a flat stone or a little platform of sand will do.
Stand erect with the heels over- hanging the edge. Rise on the toes, relax, and lower the heels till they touch the ground. Repeat 10 or 15 times daily.
•
Anything that zones up the spine has a good effect on the nervous system. If you are feeling a little run down and imp. here is some-. thing to brace you up and put you on good terms with the world' again.
Sit on the floor with the feet flat and knees bent. Clasping the arms round the knees, "rock" backwards until you are lying with your back against the Boor. Return to start- ing position and repeat vigordasly about dozen times.

beauty habits will do something for you besides just altering your appearance: they will quicken your mind. freshen your outlook and uplift your spirit-just as new summer covers and dresses do.

Now is the
time to investigate the flattering effect of a powder with a deeper tint. Don't just order a "darker powder" at random. There are cool browns as well as warm browns in skin tones and choosing exactly the right powder shade will make all the difference in the world to your appearance. You may not want a darker powder at all but only a slightly rosier one, if you have the type of skin which simply acknow- ledges summer with a faint blush.
Experiment a bit. Beige, banana, peach, blush there are all sorts of radiant, sun-kissed shades. One of them wil do something very special Sor you.
I have seen a summer make-up, properly worked out, make a woman look-five years younger. It gave her a kind of golden glow. And the pride she felt in her new face made her eyes brighter, and gaye her i alertness which almost general banished another five years!
With your warmer skin tone and powder it is easy to see why your rouge and lipstick should contain more yellow. The crimson, violet and American Beauty shades, which are so flattering to clear, "white skins, are not at home on a more You richly coloured background.. will not need so much rouge, either -not only because your own skin has more colour, but because warmer powder will bring extra emphasis to whatever rouge you do

And do give your eyes a share in this new summer make-up.. You know how faded the eyes of a sun- burned person look? As the skin becomes darker, eyes seem to lose in colour. This is the momenty to try that blue, green or violet eye shadow you have been yearning for.
With nail polish, too, this is the time to be daring. Brown hands welcome rosy nails. It makes them look so much younger. Try differ- ent methods of application, as well as new colours, until you have the combination which is most becom- ing. Try covering the whole näil clear out to the tip, especially if you are using one of the iridescent polishes. This is very effective at night Try the newer "streamline" effect, leaving a mere rim of white exposed at the tip of the nail. It does give a feeling of aristocratic length
Summer hair. That is a subject a in itself-hair that goes swimmtning. blows about on motor trips, gets wilted and limp-looking Simplicity is the summer answer, I think. What Is Woman's Future?
(Continued)
As early as 1858 in America it was resolved among other things that woman has too long rested satisfied in the circumscribed limits... which corrupt customs and a per- verted application of the Scriptures have marked out for her, and that it is time she should move in the en- larged sphere which her great Creator has assigned to her."
There' seems to be some doubt in the minds of other people besides Herr Hitler as to whether the sphere into which woman moved after that, and is still moving, was actually the one to "which her great' Creator" "assigned her. But there is no pos
sible doubt that it is enlarged.

CITY
ITY LIVING has made us a generation of Jealous space-savers. Instead of mak ing two chairsstand where one ¿e- stood before, the modern signer reverses the axiom and concerns himself with making two chairs disappear entirely into a couch or table.
Not only does one room have to take the place of several in most apartments mnd small houses, but the rooms themselves we actually smaller than formerly. And yet we are much more insistent upon light and air and a general feel- ing of space than people have ever! been before. Therefore the in- genuity of modern designers and decorators is taxed to devise rooms that serve every purpose required of them, and furniture that is ade- quate but compact and unobtrusive.
Paul Bry. French designer and decorator, has made a number of ingenious solutions to the problem of space-saving. He has schemes that are for the three-role F0021 adaptable for use anywhere. Some-

Now For Some Funny Little Bunnies
THAT about tea-time? Small fat bunnies peep- ing from a corner of a cheery nursery cloth They're only beige linen bunnies with white velveteen tails, but they do look so very full of life-just as if they were about to kick up their heels and go lop-lopping over. the green field of a tablecloth which is powdered with white daisies.
The funny little bunnies are sure to be a great favourite in the nursery, so why not enlarge the one pictured on this page, do a little drawing, and then work them on the children's bed covers or along the hem of the nursery curtains? The little close-ups of bunny, daisy bunch and border show you, too, the stitches to use in each case.
Materials Required-2% yds. of dyed linen crash in green, 231⁄2 in. wide: 6 skeins of Clark's "Anchor" Stranded Embroidery in brown, shade No. F5997; 2 skeins of light brown, No. F568; 3 skeins of white.

Remember to cut the daisy head and bury tail on the white velve- teen, cut out and oversew in place on top of the corresponding outlines on the cloth.".
