Awarded by the successful owner. The average value of the
race in recent years has exceeded £10,000. -
The first-prize money which Call Boy earned when he won the Derby of 1927 for the late Frank Curzon was £12615, and the race was worth £12,161 when Mr. 3. A. Dewar won it in 1931 with Cameronian.
Hyperion's prize in 1933 was a little less than £10.000, and the value of the stake last year was under £9,000. That was because the entries were made in November 1932 at the height
of the international economic crisis.
