Mr. Goldenberg On China's Debut
“DYE" BLACK'S HELPING HAND
(By "REFEREE")
Some interesting reminiscences on fecal soccer were given me yester day by Mr. C. A. Goldenberg, one of the oldest members of the Hong Kong Football Association, who in his day was a prominent member of the St. Joseph's junior eleven and later with the Hong Kong Foot- ball Club, with whom he played for several seasons until an unfortunate : injury at hockey suddenly terminat-
ed hit sporting career.
Mr. Goldenberg · commenced soccer in the Boys Own Club side. 1911. The term included; several Chinese players and this is his carliest recollection of Chinese entry into soccer.
South China did not enter local soccer until the 1914-15 season, when they played in the Second Division with no small measure of success.
In those days the League was
run by a Committee under Mr. A.
W. C. Hung, Ho Ka Lan, Rumjahn, and 8. A. Ramjaha gave a brillant exhibition of tennis in the Colony Doubles Final at the H.K. C.C. yesterday.-(King's Studio).
