Penang, Jan. 27. What constitutes a record for Ponang hockey was established on the esplanada yesterday, when 14 goals were scored in a match be tween the Penang Cricket Club and the Taiping Europeans.

The game, which was one of the fastest witnessed this season, and in which an excellent standard of play was maintained, resulted in a draw, the goals being equally, shared.

ALMOST the day after their return from their

unsuccessful Interport visit to Shanghai the Club to-day encounter the Combined Services in the last of the big representative rugby games to be played this season, and for this purpose are turning out a very strong fifteen, in spite of three notable absentees in McLellan, the skipper, who has retired from the game for the rest of the season, H. C. Meeke, who is suffering from an in- jured leg, and I. H. Bradford who is recovering from having the skin rubbed off his shoulders in the Interport at Shanghai.

The Combined Services have also got together a very strong fifteen, although most of the Navy's first ifteen are notable absentees, Cheyne, Benson, Forbes. St. Clair Ford, Hammett, Whitfield and Roome being missed, while Cpl. Hardy, of the Bor derers and one of the finest forwards in the Colony, is an Army absentee.

The Club's threequarter line is the original Interport selec tion, and the result of this afternoon's display should prove very interesting..
