CANTON'S OFFICIAL 'MARKS OF RESPECT

[From Our Own Correspondent]' Canton, To-day. Flags in Canton were flying at half-mast yesterday as a mark of respect for the late Mr. Tang| Chak-yu, whose remains were in- terred this morning in a cemetery in the northern outskirts of the city, in Poon Yue County.

High officials, or their representa tives, followed the casket on the long march from the late Mr. Teng's home in Little North to the cemetery, but the precession first | passed through the principal streets of the city. The pro- cession was preceded by a military band playing a funeral march, and the coffin was escorted by a de tachment of troops. A long line] of motor cars brought up the rear.

All forms of entertaiment were officially cancelled. Motion picture theatres were ordered not to give any matinee performance.
