Four stream-line Diesel-electric railway cars--the first of their kind in Japan-are nearing completion at the Kawasaki Dockyards.. near Kobe.

The cars, which will be paisted cream yellow, another departure for Japan's conservative Ministry of Railways, will carry 120 seated, and 30 standing passengers at speeds of between 85 and 120 kilometres an hour

They will be assigned to Inter- urban traffic between Yokohama and Hachioji, Kure and Hiroshina, Nagoys and Yaketoyo and Ichikawa land Chiba.

They are 20 metres long, have a 150 horsepower motor plant and will coat YB6,000 each.
