STAMP TAX BUREAU IN CANTON
Inspectors Commence Activities To-day
ALL ACCOUNT BOOKS AND FILES CHECKED

Canton, To-day. The Stamp Tax Bureau has notified all merchants that in- spectors of its bureau will to-day begin inspection all account books and files in order to see whether revenue stanips' have been affixed to these documents. Merchants will be fined if they have failed to comply with the stamp tax laws. To avoid any misunderstanding, all inspectors wear inform and have| a hadge showing that they are au- thorised to inspect all commercial papers and documents. During every inspection the officials of the Stamp Tax Bureau are accompanied i by policemen.
This Inspection has to be made with the object of impress- ing oni the merchants the necessity of paying the stamp tax. Business men are prone to be a bit) lax in this matter, as the Stamp Tax Bureau announced last week that the Inspection would be drop-1 ped between January 21 and Febru
