WINTER

BEAUTY

Cleansing the face with cold cream finished by an astringent lotion, rather than wadhing it with soap and water, is advisable duri

ng the winter months. Many wo-|| men, whose skins are inclined to be a trifle coarse, find their trou- ble is that the cream does not really do its work. The face feels sticky even after the tissues have wiped away the last traces; and soon enlarged pores and black- heads appear. The way to avoid. this is to use a liquifying cleans- sing cream. Most of the well- known manufacturers sell this variety. The cream looks like any other in the jar but melts like butter immediately it touches the skin.

The 1914 dress which Gwen Ffrangcon-Davies wears in "Flow- ers of the Forest," which was pro- duced recently, at the Whitehall Theatre, has had to be adapted to 1934 fashions because, as Miss Ffrangeon-Davies explained: "It looked so comic that it would have distracted people's attention from the play."

Naomi, the heroine, wears genuine V.A.D. dress of 1916 which was actually worn during the war by Auriol Lee's sister-in-law.

The hairdressing is "Prin- cess Marina" also; with curla at (the back of the head.
