The Italian reply sent to the League of Nations to the Abys inian protest in regard to the fighting at Ualual on December 6 alleges that the Abyssinians attack- ed first and fired on Italian out- posts, causing serious-losses-to the Halian Somaliland force.

The Italian Government in a note sent to Addis Abeba, de manded an apology and homage to the Italian flag, punishment of the responsible officials, and in- demnity for the dead and wound- ed.
