SPEED SAVES MAN'S LIFE IN many other directions, besides the carriage of passengers, mails, and ordinary freight, is the value of air transport being demonstrated nowadays.
More and more urgently-consigned medicines and vaccines are being sent by air. Not long ago, for example, a regular supply of a certain medicine, prescribed by a doctor in London for a patient in India, and needing to be taken as soon as possible after it had been prepared, went out regularly on the weekly air-mail, from Croydon, reaching its destination within five days of leaving Lon-

CARRIES BIGGER LOAD-
An order has just been placed by the Air Ministry for a number of new twin-engined day bombers, The order is of unusual signi- ficance and may mark the begin ning of a change from reliance on speed alone to reliance on power of rapid manoeuvre and a high degroe of self-defence.
.
The new bomber also earries a bigger load than the aingle-en- gined type and may not be not ably slower. Its important fea- tures are a rotatable gunturret in the nose to allow of accurate fre at any speed and two other gun positions for defence againat tail attacks from above and below.
