MINISTER MAY PAY A VISIT

PERSISTENT RUMOURS

(From Our Own Correspondent]' Canton, To-day,

Japan has mapped out a plan to compele more keenly in South China markets with other countries it is persistently reported here, It is yet uncertain whether the Japanese Minister to China, Mr. A. Arivoshi, will pay a visit to Can- ton in the immediate future. -

Better trade relations between South China and Japan were paved of by a recent visit to Canton Lieut-General Yoshimichi Suzuki, Military Attache of the Japanese Legation in Shanghai, The Japan- ese officer spent one and a half months in Kwangtung and Kwang;) si. He is said to have Interview ed Mr. Hu Han-min at Hong Kong and other leaders here and Kwangsi.

"The view of Japan in the minds of the South-western leaders has changed remarkably," the Military Attache told Japanese newspaper men upon his return to Shanghai. "They have arrived at the con- clusion that co-operation with Japan is essential for the estab lishment of permanent peace in the Far East on the basis of the prin ciple of a Greater Asia advanced by Dr. Sun Yat-sen. The result is that the anti-Japanese movement in South China has ceased almost completely."

Lieut.-General Suzuki concluded: his statement by declaring that; the time had come for the Japan- ese to push their trade in the South China markets.
