At their first public perform- ance on Saturday evening the Philharmonic Society quickly captured the interest and appro- While hation of the audience. the Conductor and the would themselves be the last to claim absolute perfection, it can be said with truth that the gen eral level of attainment was re- markably high. Both principals work and choristers did their
