Walter Lyle, inset, attendant at a gasoline service station in New York City, above, has been credited with giving the tip that led to the arreat of Bruno Richard Hauptmann as a suspect in the Lindbergh baby kidnapping and. murder. Receiving a forbidden U.S.310 gold certificate from a motorint, Lyle was careful to jot down the license member of the car. Investigation disclosed that the certificaté had been one of the Lindbergh ransom notes, and Hauptmann was traced through the license.
