Washington, To-day.
That the United States has abandoned hope of an immediate general Disarmament agree- ment was disclosed yesterday by the Secretary of State, Mr. William Cordell Hull.
He confirmed that the United States Government is seeking a separate agreement for International control of arms traffic. He hopes that this can be done without waiting to include that subject in any general Disarmament agreement.
MR. HULL STATES THAT THE GOVERNMENT HAS OR- DERED MR. HUGH WILSON TO SOUND THE EUROPEAN AND ASIATIC POWERS AS TO WHETHER THEY WILL BE PARTIES TO DRAFTING AN ARMS TRAFFIC AGREEMENT.

MR. CHAMBERLAIN GOOD HUMOURED BUTT
SIR
WM. JENKINS COLLAPSES
London, To-day. The Betting Lotteries Bill passed its third reading in the House of Commons last night by 206 votes to 38.
The closing stages were marked by a spark- ling attack by Lady-Astor against Mr. Churchill, who led the Opposition to the Bill.
The House was kept rocking with laughter in which Mr. Churchill good-naturedly joined.
"I AM AMAZED TO HEAR HIM TALK OF GRAND- MOTHERLY LEGISLATION," LADY ASTOR EXCLAIMED. UN- FORTUNATELY OUR GRAND MOTHERS WERE NOT LEGIS- LATED BECAUSE THEY HAD NO VOTE. IF THEY HAD, THE COUNTRY WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH BETTER THAN IT IS. TO-DAY.
