"THERE

THERE are two things to which I should like to refer," said His Excellency the Governor at the annual prize-giving of St. Stephen's College at Stanley this afternoon. "One is the well- known theme of tradition. I should, indeed, hesitate to refer to It were it not that St. Stephen's College, from Its special consti. tution and alms, appears to me, more than any other school in Hong Kong, to offer the opportunity for developing great tradi- tions.

"The other matter about which I should like to say a word is that of good manners. One cannot but feel with some sadness that the tendency of the world to-day is to neglect good manners. By that expression I do not mean mere etiquette, but rather politeness and consideration for your fellows whether they be old! or young."
