The Nineteenth Routa army in action at Shanghai
Genaral Teal Ting:Kai |
China's greatest military here, General Tsai Ting-Kai, who led the Nineteenth Route army in its astounding battle agains the Japanese in the Shanghai struggle in 1932, is preparing to sail for home again after his world tour "esile", wondering what fate holds in store for him. An op ponent of General Chiang Kai-Shek, ruler at Nanking, who is said to the pro-Japanese, General Tsai dubbed the "poet-warrior" during his heroic stand in Shanghai, is seeking to rally together the Chinese populace to drive out the Japanese. At 41 years of age, he has been in 171 campaigns.
