Canton, To-day.
General Li Chung-Jen, Comman- der-in-Chief of the Fourth Group (Kwangsi) Army, arrived at Wu- chow yesterday, en route to Nan- ning, provincial, capital of Kwang. ai, and will reach there this even- ing.
The general had stayed here over six months and left on Sun- day afternoon by train for Sam- shui and thence by gunboat to Wu- chow. An unusual feature of his departure was the he made no an- nouncement as to when he will re- turn here.
Affairs in Kwangsi are in the hands of General Pai Hsung-hai, the exceutive officer of the 4th Group Army. General Li remained in Canton as a liaison officer for Kwangs and as a member of the South-west Political Council.
During General Li's last ahnence! from Canton, the provincial bank- notes depreciated by 10 per cent. Shortly after his return, the paper money was stabilized. Why Gen etal deemed it necessary to go back to Kwangsi is not stated, but the present political situation is full of possibilities.

International Tim Committee Make Half Yearly Report
Only once did the Gipsy engines of the de Havilland plane-show signs of tiring. Although one of the 325 h.p. units faded out over the Timor Sea, the remaining engine carried them to Fort Darwin. Quick repairs were effected and a few hours after landing, the airmen were again speeding at, 178 m.p.h. towards Melbourne, with their closest rivals, Parmentier and Moll, Dutch changed views on the problem of air mail pilots, still 1,000 miles behind.
The latter pair are expected to be the second to land at Mél- bourne, although their arrival at Charleville has not yet been re ported. Close behind the Flying Dutchmen are Colonel Roscoe Turner and Clyde Pangborn, American cracks, who are making a desperate bid for second place in their giant Boeing Transport plane.

The Stewards of the Hong Kong Jockey Club bave decided to abun- don $2 tickets in the parimalnel and to revert to the $5 denomina- tien throughout, with the excep tin of the Daily Double event, chances in which wil stä cost $2.
It was at the Double Tenth Meeting that $2 betting was first introduced, following the reduc-. tion in the Cash Sweep and en- trance prices. Threatening wen- ther on the first day of that meeting, however, ruined all chances of the innovation being given a fair, test, but the two subsequent days racing proved very disappointing.
