It is learned that the failure of America's silver purchase policy to promote large commodity price in- creases may lead to another drive for inflation at the forthcoming Congress, despite the Administra tion's opposition.

It is believed that the Admin- istration has accepted the present| programme, largely because of the moderation of other measures before the last Congress.

After battling heavy seas in the close proxi- mity of a typhoon in the China Seas for over 36 hours, the tugboat, Taikoo, is now reported to be safe and heading under escort by H.M.S. Adven- ture, which reached her at 2 a.m., for the shelter of the French coastal port of Tourane, Indo-China, about 600 miles from Hong Kong. The tugboat carried a crew of nearly 100 including six Britons.
