Autumn Plate, and The Carp for the Picnic Bay Stakes, on which approximately $90,000 in prize money rests. Those are the five races which will provide most interest in the Seventh Extra Race Meeting, which opens the second half of the season at the Valley to- day, commencing at 2 p.m.
Eighteen pounds is a lot to con- cede over a mile, but Electric Star should be able to stave off Rib- ble's challenge in the Rig Wave Bay Handicap. High Speed is a good thing, and Soldier of Ger many is more than a useful out- sider.
Last night it was not known whether Mr. Butler would be rid- ing Bobniak Star or the cham-! pion, Able Amazon, in the Corro- boree Handicap, and the indeci- sion causes સ very intriguing situation. I think it is safe to say that whatever Mr. Butler takes out is likely to be the pony
with the better chance, and it! will probably be Bobniak Star.
Atlas is in excellent condition and will be very clone if he does not win. With Mr. Block up he clocked 0.52.1) for the first half in the Brisbane Spring] Handicap, and was carrying 163 lb; Bohniak Star's nearest Fort was a 1.15.3 five furlongs et 145.
