Crucial Senior Bowls Match To-morrow

INDIANS ALMOST SURE OF JUNIOR TITLE

(By Short_Head.) If the weather remains fine, this `week will see one of the most im portant Lawn Bowl League matches of the season, decided. I refer to the fixture between the champions, the Kowloon Bowling Green Club, and Craigengower "A" on the former's green at Kowloon.

Should the Kowloon Bowling) Green Club win, they will be al- most assured of retaining the championship. If Craigengower triumph, they still have some hard matches to play, but a win would increase their chances im- mensely.

The rain has repeatedly caused the postponement of matches which would have given some indication of the ultimate League winners. Last week, for instance, Craigen- were to have played the gower "giant killers," the Police, who, on their present form, are capable of defeating any team in the league, and, hud the match been played. there might have been less import

In 1917 the Shanghai Lawn Bowls, Association sent an invita- tion to the Hong Kong Lawn Bowls Association to send a team of bowlers to play in Shanghai.

The invitation had to be de-

elined with much regret The Great War was still on, and it was impossible to obtain leave of ab sence, owing to greatly depleted office staffs, and, the difficulties in obtaining exemption from military duties.

SECOND. INVITATION Shanghal sent another Invita- tion in 1918, but this, also had to be declined officially for various reasons.

Unofficially, however, four very keen bowlers, Messrs. C. Bond, W. G. Gerrard. D. Harvey and W: Russell (skip), known later as the

"Big Four" for obvious reasons, made a trip to Shanghai. There they played in the first match of
