A suit brought by James Morrow.. 22, of Mount Vernon, asking for £10,000 damages for the alleged alienation of the affections of his} mother has been dismissed by Jus-

Mr. Morrow filed his suit against Frederick Yannantuono, a Mount undertaker.

The plaintiff said that his mother| and father had lived together hap- pily for 20 years until 1929, when the defendant met Mrs. Morrow.

Subsequently, the defendant claimed, he had been deprived of his mother's affection and shunned by his neighbours.

After Fire Swept Hakodate.

Hakodate, Japan. in worst fire in the history of north- ern Japan, 760 lives were lost in the city of Hakodate dur- ing a 12 hour conflagration which started at seven o'clock on the night of March 21. Some 2,400 persons were injured. It is believed that several hundred were drownod when they harbour, trapped jumped into the icy waters of Hakodate when the wind changed and swept the fire in
