FUTURE OF

RANELAGH

AT STAKE

Royal Family Withdraws Patronage.

WORLD-FAMOUS CLUB SENSATION

The fate of Ranelagh, the most famous and certainly most exclusive social and sporting club in the world, is in the balance.

Is it to retain the tradition under which it has reached such eminence as the finest country house club în existence or, in the words of one of ita members, "is it to degenerate to something little better than one of the road houses so popular in the United States for the purpose of earning dividends for the company which owns it?"

For years Ranelagh was honour- ed by the King's patronage. That, has now been withdrawn, and every member of the Royal Family has severed connection with the club.

The royal members included the Prince of Wales, the Duke of York (who was chairman of the general committee), the Duke of Gloucester, Prince George; and the Duke of Connaught.

Sir George Hastings, who has strongly commented on certain de- velopments at the club. has ceased to be chairman, though he remains. fa director.

Long-Standing Dispute Other resignations have also taken place. The Duke of Beau- fort, the Earl of Lonsdale, Lord Trenchard, Air Marshal Sir John Herbert Wilcox, who is directing Salmond, Admiral Sir Roger Keyes, Nell Gwyn" for British and Dom-M.P., Admiral Sir Herbert King- inlon Pictures, has a superb cast, Hall, Major-General Sir John Han. headed by Anha Neagle and Cedric bury-Williams, and Sir Francis E.
