FACE DEATH
FOR 5 WEEKS Factory Ship Disabled
In Antarctic..
3,500 MILES COVERED WITH BROKEN RUDDER
Durban (Natal). Victim of the savage fury of a wild Antarctic ses, the British whaling factory ship, Southern Princess, limped into Durban after] a perilous journey of -3,500 miles with a smashed rudder. It was five weeks since she was first dis abled and in that period her crew of 207 men faced almost certain death a dozen times when the help- less vessel wallowed completely out of control in mountainous seas.
In addition to being lashed .and swamped by these terrific sens, the Southern Princess encountered many
| icebergs against which she would! have been dashed to pieces but for providential happenings which saved her in the nick of time.
For nearly three weeks the Southern Princess was practically at the mercy of the waves and could neither be driven nor guided. The manner in which she survived pro- vides another epic story of the sea.
In an interview Captain. Ander- son, the commander, stated that it was the most hazardous trip that could possibly be imagined. ·.

"FROM CONTENTED COWS”
Carnation is just as useful in making soups, gravies, creamed vegetables or fruit salads. Undiluted, it takes the place of cream; diluted it can be used as rich milk for every cooking require
ment.
Carnation Milk is absolutely safe because it is ster- flized. Hermetically sealed in new tins it is protect- ed from all outside contamination.
It keeps indefinitely until the tin is opened and for several days afterwards. You will appreciate
its greater convenience and economy your first tin.
