Washington, To-day, The United States Treasury Secretary, Mr. Henry Morgenthau, states that he has appointed Professor James Harvey Rogers to survey the Chinese silver situation. Prof. Rogers will visit China to study how higher silver would affect Chinese-American trade, and is expected to sail soon. The date will be announced later.
Mr. Morgenthau pointed out that one group believes that an increased silver price will stimu- late exports from the United States to China, while another group thinks that an increased price will force China to curtail her imports.
