Smartness Of Velvet

Many Ways Of Using Short Velvet Coat.

LONG-SLEEVED DRESSES

FOR EVENING

Semi-tailored, ultra-plain suits in velvet are smart. Short coats in black velvet, with a trim skirt of calf length are sometimes braided, like serge, and these can be worn either with the light-coloured shirt for morning, or for afternoon, with the dull-finished lame, crepe, or satin blouse.

Tailored modes are still on the atmple side. Sometimes the velvet coat may be cut on the lines of a belted cardigan and worn with shirt or waistcoat.

The "best-dressers” have eagerly seized on the long-sleeved evening' dress with its square and modest! decolletage. The average English-! woman has never felt quite happy in the backless dress. It is not a case of being shocked, but it is a cold and difficult mode.

Now stretch it downward to the left. Let your head hang loosely forward until your chin touches your chest. Keep your neck perfectly relaxed while doing each step. Repeat the exercise several times a day.

Relaxing your neck and rotating your head round and round la a wide circle is another step toward acquiring a graceful neck.

CARE OF SILKS

White silk clothes should be rol led up in a towel while they are wet. Never 'hang them on a line. Press with a not-too-hot iron while. they are quite damp.
