UPSET IN FORM

A sensation was caused yesterday morning when Mr. H. Y. Liang's Ironsides, ■ 1934 sab., went over 1% miles in 2.51.0 with a last quarter of 0.34.0.

This was very surprising as little was expected of the pony which is not considered in the same class ar Racing Spirit or Sarabande. It only goes to prove that it is yet im- possible to select with any degree of confidence the best half dozen in! the new batch.

is only six weeks until, the Annual Race Meeting and there is yet no indication as to the best of the 1934 Subs, though it is generally admitted that they will probably prove a better batch than the 1933 lot which in- cluded Warrington and Partnership.

In the following article "The Spider" discusses the leading twenty ponies in training, being particularly impressed by Mr. S. W. Tang's Racing Spirit and Mesars, Sturi and Lobel's Sarabande.
