CLAIM FOR REVIEW OF ORDER
Well-known Chinese In Maintenance Case.
$1,000 PAID INTO COURT.
At the Central Police Court this morning Mr. W. A. Mackinlay, on behalf of Mr. Lo Shun-wań, a well- known local Chinese, made an "appli-! cation under the Married Women's Desertion Ordinance for a revision of the order made by the Court for: payment of $150 a month, as from May last year, as maintenance to his wife, Tong Wai-yin.
- Mr. Mackinlay said that he had fresh evidence to offer, which was not available when the order was made some time ago by Mr. Scho. feld.
Mr. Hamilton, who succeeded Mr. Schofield as `Magistrate, refused, .saying that it was a most gross at tempt to evade the law. The order was made by Mr. Schofield and hoj saw no reason why it should boj changed. The defendant had been ordered two weeks ago to comply with the order, and had only appear- ed in Court when a warrant for his] arrest had been issued. "He is playing the fool with the Court." said the Magistrate.
Mr. Mackinlay said that had the fresh evidence been placed before Mr. Schofield the order would never have been made. The Court was almply taking the version of the complainant
accurate. FLE

knows how these 2,700,000 Buicks have written proof of Buick quality on the roads of the world. Long ago, Buick's finer, more faithful performance became an international tradition. Records of Buicks that have gone 200 000 miles or more have become almost commonplace. And favor for Buick has increased year after year, until to-day more people choose Buick than all tes other eights in its price range combined, and nine out of ten say they will buy BUICKS again. A motor car has to be better to compile such record over a period of thirty years. Its manufacturer has to mean promise--" "When better, automo- biles are built, Buick will, build them."
