bold to forecast that all exist- ing track records of Australian ponies will be smashed at the forth- coming Annual Meeting when the 1934 batch are raced. ̈·
At the pony auction the other day City of Brisbane fetched $180. Many people were inclined to think that the pony was a gift at the price, but those in the know shook their heads and probably thought that the expenditure was wasted. Events will prove whether City of Brisbane can win a race next sea- son. Unless the Australians. are. divided into three classes there is little chance.
Of the 37 Australian ponies now in training seventeen are mares and I think it is amongst these that the new champton will be found.
