The panic which developed over the week-end among the holders of Canton Provincial Bank notes has been allayed as a result of the Gov crnment's sasurance of political{ stability in Kwangtung despite the Fukien developments, and also by the prompt payment of funds to de- positors by the Canton Provincial Bank.

In view of the suspension of re demption of $10 bank notes by the bank, they are accepted in the mar ket at 70 per cent. of their face vaine. Other banknotes of $5 and $1 denominations are acceptable at only slight discount if any Cen- trai News Agency.
