NEW YORK, TO-DAY, PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT HAS ORDERED THREE WAR- SHIPS TO CUBA TO PROTECT UNITED STATES CITIZENS IN THAT COUNTRY.

Two destroyers have been ordered to Havana and one to Manzanillo. President Roosevelt states that no possible interven- tion nor the slightest interference in the internal affairs of Cuba is intended by this precautionary step.

The vessels will protect, if necessary, the lives of United States citizens pending the restoration of normal conditions. Reuter.
