HELEN WILLS – MOODY AND ALICE MARBLE UNDER DOCTOR'S ORDERS

New York, To-day-

The British women's tennis team collapsed sensationally, against America in the first day's play in the Wightman Cup contest at Forest Hills yesterday. They lost all three matches. To-day Britain has the stupendous task of winning all four matches to regain the trophy the Americans have held for the past two years.

Despite the enforced absence of Helen Wills Moody, the American ladies won both singles matches and the doubles encoun ter by convincing margins they did not drop a single set.
