PARIS, TO-DAY,
CONSIDERING THAT THE NEGOTIATIONS FOR DOLLAR STABILISATION ARE DEAD, FRENCH FINANCE CIRCLES ARE NOW LOOKING FOR A PROVISIONAL BACKING FOR STERLING-FRANC EXCHANGE, AND A CURRENCY TRUCE BETWEEN LEADING EUROPEAN NATIONS. SUCH A TRUCE WOULD EXCLUDE AMERICA. — REUTER.
London, To-day.
After the receipt of an important cable from Washington by the American delegation to the World Economic Conference, the British Premier, Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, held a conversation with some of the American delegates yesterday. It is reported that Mr. MacDonald urged Americans to keep the stabilisation discussions secret in order to enable the Conference 10 proceed with other subjects and the markets not to be subject to the dis- turbing influence of stabilisation rumours,
It is understood that the delegates agreed, temporarily, to restrain from divulging further information to the public regard- ing stabilisation.
".
It is reported that a number of the delegations from the smaller European Powers are impatient at the stabilisation delay, and are urg- ing the European Powers at the Conference to concentrate on seeking an agreement embracing all European States.-Reuter.
