The 50 Metres Invitation Breast Stroke event at the Chinese Bathing Club's swimming gala last night was won by the Colony champion,
Kwok Chan-bang (South China), in 36.-3/5 sect. He beat Wan Kwong- ting (Chinese Bathing Club), the previous holder of the Colony title, by four yards.
Chan Fuk-shing (Chinese .Civil) Servants' Club) took third place, while G. Fowler, the only European entrant, representing the European | Y.M.C.A. was fourth.
A huge crowd attracted by the Hong Kong League water-polo games which proceeded the gala, was in attendance at the gala,
Excellent organisation was again the feature of the night, each event being carefully prepared, and swimmers ready to take the water at a moment's notice.
Leung Sul-man, the Chinese Bathing Club's star short dis- tance
man, was outstanding. He secured no fewer than 3 first and 2 seconds.
Leung's best effort of the even- ing was the winning of the 100 Metres Back Stroke championship. which he won in 1/80.-3/5 secs, coming in at the finish 14 seconds to the good.
In the throwing the Polo-Ball event, Chan Tze-ching reached 22 metres Leung Sul-man was second, two metres behind.
